Well, with 23⁰ weather predicted for Friday, it seems that summer is here at last! Personally, I’m going to be sat in the garden working on my current cross stitch kit, on the sun lounger with a nice cold drink! If you’re looking for a bright, colourful kit to work on in the sun, I’ve picked three of my favourites. I’ve also picked three which range from easy for beginners or those who want a quick design to finish, through to hard for those who like a challenge or a kit that will last all summer.
The easiest of the three is this delightful Italian Scene Kit. No one can think of Italy and not think of beautiful sunshine! The simple shapes of the buildings are really easy to stitch and it uses 16 count Aida, which is much easier to work on. Also, the finished design only measures 13cm by 13cm so it’s a fairly quick one to finish.
Next on our difficulty scale comes the Seaside Walk Kit. While it’s a lot larger than the previous kit, it still uses 16 count aida and the design itself has been kept quite simple. For example, the sea only uses two different shades of thread whereas in more difficult kits it may use three or four. I still think it’s a beautiful cross stitch kit though; the colours are bold and bright and it helps me imagine retiring to a villa in Spain!
Finally, for those of you who like a real challenge, you’ll love our Lakeside Village Kit. Again, it uses 16 count aida, but the finished design is a huge 30cm by 38cm. It’s also incredibly detailed so it’s definitely one for more experienced cross stitchers. The design itself is stunning, with incredibly bright colours and lovely detailing. I simply love the colours of the reflections in the water, and the way the clouds float over the mountains in the distance.
I’m sure that I won’t be the only person working on a cross stitch kit this weekend. My Cozy Cub kit is coming along slowly but surely, but I’m hoping that I can make a pretty big dent in it on Saturday! I’ll post a picture of what I’ve done so far on Facebook over the next couple of days and then post what I managed to get done on Monday. Who knows, it might encourage me to get more done!
