Just Because Prize .....Every month we will be awarding a "just because" prize - just because we want to. It's our way of making shopping with us a little more interesting and a small gesture to thank you for shopping with Past Impressions. Some of the awards you might find a little wacky - could be just an address we find interesting, something somebody has got in touch with us about, anything really. Whatever, keep looking as you might be the surprise recipient.

March Winner Of The "Just Because" PrizeWe are pleased to announce the first winner of our Just Because prize is Dr Redit, Director of the Christian Missions Charitable Trust, on behalf of the Haven Of Hope Handicraft Centre. On receipt of a sizable order from India we wondered where all these kits were going to, and on looking at the charity's website were delighted to read about the Haven Of Hope Handicraft Centre. Started in 1974 with one girl in a garage, today it is a place of training and employment for over 130 women and teenage girls, with ten government trained sewing teachers. The Handicraft Centre is divided into several sections and training is given in doll making, embroidery, cross stitch, tailoring, cutting, patchwork, and machine work. 70% of these girls start off knowing nothing about sewing and needlework and some do not even know how to thread a needle. After 18 months of training each person is placed in a department according to their ability and preference. The result is that each one does the most beautiful work, which is sold in many countries of the world, and therefore enables them to live and to feed their families. We're sure you'll all agree that Haven Of Hope is a very worthy winner of this month's Just Because prize. A selection of cross stitch and needlecraft kits are on their way.
